Martin Sastre Biographie

Martin Sastre participe à des expositions internationales depuis 2000 et a participé à de multiple reprises à des biennales comme la Biennale de Busan, Corée du Sud (2008), Usuahia, Argentine (2007), Biennale de l’Image à Genève (2006), Biennale de Venise (2005), la biennale de Sao Paulo comme représentant national de l’Uruguay (2004), La Havane (2003), Prague (2002) et Mercosur (2001). Il a notamment été récompensé en 2004 à la foire internationale de Madrid en remportant le prix ARCO mais aussi en 2008 avec le Faena Prize remis par un jury composé de Jessica Morgan (Tate Modern), Okwui Enwezor (San Francisco Institute of Art) et Carlos Basualdo (Philadelphia Museum of Art) pour une intervention urbaine à Buenos Aires, Argentine. Il a créé The Martin Sastre Foundation for the Super Poor Art, un site internet permettant à des mécènes privés d’ « adopter » et supporter de jeunes artistes sud-américains et il a réalisé un long-métrage pour le cinéma, « Miss Tacuarembo ».
