The iPhone app helps users discover nearby exhibitions thanks to its geolocation functionality and keeps the user up-to-date with the latest Paris news: exhibitions, openings and conferences.
A Database and Communications Platform
More than simply an events listing, Slash is very much a database. Constantly updated, it connects venues, their key players and the public.
Slash’s History
The project began with two people passionate about art and design. They took the decision to give art the online standing it deserved and to create the website of their dreams. Arnaud Mercier, graphic designer, interactive designer and co-founder of interactive agency AREA17 and Jeane Derome, artist and contemporary art fanatic, began their adventure in October 2008. Sketches, mock-ups and development on one hand and pedalling about Paris with a shoulder slung camera for a sweeping selection of art venues on the other, nothing was left to chance in order to create the most complete and ambitious website of the time. Today Slash surrounds itself with the best talent in order to advance the high quality venture as Arnaud Mercier would have conceived it before his passing in September 2011.
