Laura Porter (1979) born in New Orleans, Louisiana, studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts Paris-Cergy and lives and works in Paris. She is currently a Fine Arts, PhD candidate at the Beaux Arts of Paris in in the program “SACRe-PSL”. Her work has been exposed in France and abroad notably at the Centre Régional d’Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon, the Centre Georges Pompidou, the Ygrec gallery, Cité Internationale des Arts and Bandjoun Station in Cameroon. She was recently part of the group exhibitions “New Babylon” and “Hard Flowers” at the Galerie Escougnou-Cetraro (Paris) and “Meet Me on the Beach” at La Couleuvre (St. Ouen). After a residency at the Kyoto City University of Arts in Japan, her first solo show will take place in September 2016 at Galerie Escougnou-Cetraro.
Laura Porter’s work focuses on how economies of production generate value. She considers her installations/sculptures as drawings and works by relay method — grafting increments of previous works onto the next.
