Anne Démians Architecte

Past: November 29, 2011 → January 14, 2012

The Galerie d’architecture presents an exhibition of the work of AAD Architectures Anne Démians.

After completing her studies at Versailles School of Architecture, Anne Démians opened her first agency in 1995, followed eight years later by AAD Architectures Anne Démians. With ‘availability as attitude, diversity as objective’ as her motto, she casts an appraising eye on each of her works to ensure they form a coherent whole. The agency has won several competitions since 2004, including office developments, a freight station at Orly, the central schools’ kitchens in Paris’ 20th arrondissement, several housing projects, the law courts in Douai and the rebuilding of the hotel and tourism high school at Guyancourt.

In parallel with these projects, Anne Démians contributes to several working groups and think tanks. In 2008, following a request from the city of Paris, she took part in a workshop on the height of buildings in the city, most notably in the Masséna-Bruneseau district. She is also a member of the commission formed by the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development, Transport and Housing to examine how the 2012 thermal regulations (RT 2012) can be revised and improved in preparation for the next set of regulations (RT 2020). In 2009 she won the first edition of EDF’s BAS CARBONE competition for buildings with exceptionally low carbon emissions and consequently sat as president of the jury for the 2010 session.

Since 1998 she has also taught architecture at Brittany National College of Architecture, Paris Special Architecture School, Paris-Dau- phine University and Berlin’s Institut für Architektür.

The Galerie d’architecture has decided to showcase her work at a critical time in her soaring career, focusing on four projects that illustrate particularly well the world of Anne Démians: the central schools’ kitchens in Paris’ 20th arrondissement; the Île de Corse deve- lopment in Nancy; a project consisting of 354 apartments, business premises, a crèche and a parking lot at Auteuil station in Paris; and Société Générale’s Campus at Val-de-Fontenay.
