Cabinet Psychophonétique — Exposition collective
Past: January 30 → March 29, 2014
The psychophonetic is an area of research devoted to the study of synesthesia, which consist for example to associate sounds with colors, smells, textures, tastes or characters.
Psychophonetic Cabinet is an exhibition dedicated to the visual characteristics of sounds, specifically sounds associated with speech. It proposes a reprisal of the ancient theories of music from the celestial spheres using small sculptures and musical compositions. It then discusses synaesthesia related to speech. Presented in the form of a cabinet of curiosities, different modules give shape to the sensory qualities of the language elements.
This Cabinet tries to show the shape, volume, color, brightness, angularity, smell, weight and gender of the phonemes which we use for the essence of our sentences. These modules are surrounded by documents and surveys where these objects have been designed to make sensitive a certain form of common imaginary.
