While disregarding walls, pictures say: “Look at me, I am the beginning and the end.” Comically, even tragically, they forget they are objects among other objects; when pictures forget they are objects, they might be beautiful but they will always be stupid. Casting occurs around objects, as proof of these objects.
Armanious’s wall pieces summon fragments that articulate the efforts and worth of space. With un-hiding structure and material cooperation they beckon: “come and look behind us.” And so with little torches we will slink inside wall cavities in search of the perfectly still offcuts of life.
