Le Mal — yes, I take it to mean evil, not just a simple Baudelairian unrest or the melancholy of a belated romanticism. Le Mal — vile, is in fact always (in) us, not others. What makes the other the enemy is in fact the fear in our own heads looking for an external justification for its own rapaciousness.
