Paola Salerno’s films and photographs examine men’s relation to their territory. They are the traces of a social and family history, close to documentary in form but imbued with subjectivity. Salerno’s relation to individuals and places profoundly influences the way she takes her photographs. In her images of Naples, sprawling urbanisation neighbours with ancient traditions. Each scene is a mythical space, infused with both reality and fiction, and capable of generating multiple scenarios.
