Congolese literatures, poetries and writings

With: Baloji, In Koli Jean Bofane, Fiston Mwanza Mujila, Dieudonné Niangouna…

———

Within the work frame created around the exhibition Beauté Congo — 1926-2015 — Congo Kitoko, the Nomadic Nights invite the actor and director Dieudonné Niangouna to present an evening dedicated to Congolese literature, poetry and writing, including oral and musical traditions of all sorts. They will sway between the banks of the river Congo, between Kinshasa and Brazzaville.

“1h45 of fluvial readings in the bowels of the Fondation Cartier, with an added 45 minutes of conversation with the authors — Jean Bofane, Baloji, Fiston Mwanza… Authors, virtuoso actors and tellers who know so well how to engage with the deepest poetic recesses of a literary gesture. Different tones punctuate accurately the nuances weaved into these writings. I will be both the boatman and the spectators of the pirogue. I will drain them, drag them, take them to the chutes, the falls, the water wells, to troubled and warm waters, the cataracts, the whirlpools, the banks… The staging will be somewhat fixed, yet give the impression of a fury, of an explosion of languages in space.”

Dieudonné Niangouna.
