Painting, performance

Paolo Scheggi

Past: October 23 → December 22, 2015

The Parisian gallery is presenting the first extensive exhibition in France of the work of Paolo Scheggi, curated by Luca Massimo Barbero, Associate Curator of the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice and Editor of the upcoming “Paolo Scheggi : Catalogue Raisonné”.

The exhibition will explore the artist’s entire career, from his famous Intersuperfici to his research on language and theatrical and urban performances. The limited body of work of this major artist of the Italian post-war avant-garde, dead at 31, is closely followed by today’s art market/world.

The show will include a reconstruction of Scheggi’s installation at the 1966 Venice Biennale, made possible thanks to generous loans from the Museum für Konkrete Kunst, Ingolstadt and Franca and Cosima Scheggi.

Born in Florence in 1940 but settled in Milan in 1961, he developed an interdisciplinary artistic research, exploring various artistic fields to reach a conceptual and metaphysical reflection. Monochrome, a sense of space, reflection on time through perception and action, wordplay, are all fundamental elements of his artistic research.

A catalogue gathering precious archival material documenting the exhibition, edited under the direction of Luca Massimo Barbero will be available at the gallery.
