Patrick O’Reilly

Past: September 13 → December 14, 2012

An eruptive, inventive and anarchic talent, Patrick O’Reilly is always searching for new visual languages. Three of his large works will inhabit the Centre Culturel Irlandais throughout the whole period of the 10 year celebrations: Nuns, a very contemplative piece, installed in the cellars; his gigantic pink doll’s House, with its unexpected interior, will interact with the architecture of the courtyard and be accompanied by an enormous red toy Car driven by a teddy bear. His work reflects, in a very personal way, his own emotions and an identification with the lonely, the misfits and the unwanted ones of society. The carnival of modern life he presents has its shadows and cruel spots, which may easily be missed behind a colourful vitality.

This exhibition is part of the FICEP’s Semaine des cultures étrangères (21-30 September 12). This year the theme is “Urban Life”.
