In advance of International Women’s Day, the CCI is screening this forceful film about a mother, Sandra, and her teenage son, Stephen, who kidnapped a toddler three years previously and held him captive at his grandfather’s house. Having agreed to a filmed interview, Sandra struggles to defend her family and piece together the events in which they were undeniably implicated. Stephen uses their shared ordeal to extract another story from his mother, one that goes a long way towards explaining his actions.

The film grew from a scenario used to help psychiatrists practise dealing with challenging situations. It will be presented by director Carmel Winters and followed by Q&A.

Directed and written by Carmel Winters, starring Aisling O’Sullivan, Eileen Walsh Stephen Moran
