Rainbow Warrior

Past: January 26 → February 25, 2012

The galerie Pascal Vanhoecke is pleased to invite you to the personnal exhibition of the artist, writer and grafer : Vision. He discovered graffiti in the mid 80’s with the famous stalingrad spot, and at the same moment rap music and all the hip hop culture. The graffiti was born in the early 70’s in New York, on the walls, trains, subways. This culture has imposed itself since 40 years above the urban land, above the borders, with its reputation, good .. or not. The graffiti is from now on well known as an art itself ans it’s history in constantly written and evolving. Vision is a very productive urban artist since the age of 15. He will bring the walls of the gallery to life with a serie of canvas and exclusive stickings. In his painting, he shows all of his various influences, tastes, wants, such as : aboriginal painting, the west coast imagery, thaï food and junk food, Mathieu, Basquiat, Robert Crumb ans lots of musical genres.

To Vision, graffiti is’nt just about coloring walls with paint, but rather expressing himslef as an artist who discovers everyday, experiments and reveals a world with its codes, colours, drips, letters and even more.

Exposing an artist as Vision is like having a vision of tomorrow’s world by taking the modifications related to the power struggle between the citizen artists and the academic world into account.

Watching and looking at “Rainbow Warrior” is like listening to an almost silent street music with the soft spray noise.

The graffiti embellishes the town’s walls, almost like a second life, but this time, with colours !
