Ménagerie de verre

« An experimental factory »

The Ménagerie de verre, a multidisciplinary space dedicated to contemporary creation, is the place where all types of artistic movements interact. Open to all kind of artistic impulses, the Ménagerie de verre hosts regularly artists who reflect the vitality of the contemporary scene, choreographers, performers, video-artists, visual artists… Claudia Triozzi, Alain Buffard, Jérôme Bel, Emmanuelle Huyhn, Raimund Hoghe, Rachid Ouramdane, Boris Charmatz or Nadia Lauro and Nicolas Floc’h are among the artists who were invited at the Ménagerie de verre. Through the organisation of events like Les Inaccoutumés, the yearly contemporary dance (since 1995) event, or the contemporary theatre festival Etrange Cargo (since 1997), the Ménagerie de verre became the place to discover the emerging artistic tendencies and the new esthetical languages. Since its creation in 1983, the Ménagerie is standing at the cutting edge to support artists and choreographers and to develop an experimental lab for contemporary dance and theatre. With this aim in view, the Ménagerie de verre offers its “research laboratory” to artists to allow them to work on their projects inside its space. Furthermore, as part of its educational program, the Menagerie offers daily contemporary dance courses, for professional dancers as well as regular workshops.
