“Like the Tibetan Buddhist monks when they work to make a mandala of sand, Lilian Daubisse transforms common materials into precious objects. Objects of curiosity, the works are moving in their poetry and enigmatic beauty. They invite us to dream, to travel and to explore the sense.” — Sylvain Carré

This exhibition groups works which give pride of pace to light. Yet light is not presented as a symbol related to cycles (being both the beginning and the end point). We are far from this cyclical conception where everything has been said and therefore is repeated. Here it is a question of believing in novelty, letting oneself be dazzled by the work.

Herta Müller’s painting can be distinguished by a pallet of light colours, a waxed background of delicate shades, where space prevails, punctuated by signs. Where the colour is fuller and stronger, the path of the brush becomes deliberately more visible, always perfectly controlled.

This project presents the art created by ten artists working with adolescents. A veritable collaborative process between artists and students, it bears witness to a protocol of experimentation that encourages moving beyond preestablished situations, transgressing traditional hierarchies of knowledge in the educational environment as well as questions of authorship.

Philippe Mayaux is unusual because he never lets his judgement come to rest on the definitive character of things. He takes them from the world without a fixed hierarchy, but follows the principles that govern his way of torturing materials of all kinds and his convoluted science of their religion, a kind of extension of Robert Filliou’s principle of equivalence.

Fausto Melotti is among those spirits in the history of art and thought who does not allow themselves to be defined by a specific category such as “sculptor” or “poet”. An engineer by training and artist by vocation, Melotti spans a historic period where, in the Italy of industrial innovations and memories of more or less recent wars, abstraction would only be recognized a few decades after its earliest onset.

Bearing on the challenges raised by trying to free oneself of gravity and inertia, this exhibition has been designed in the image of the works of architecture or the large ships which are named “superstructures”. Used in the singular, “superstructure” is a term which defines the moral, religious and artistic order of society: symbolic power in general.
