Abbas Zahedi
Born in 1984 in London, Abbas Zahedi is an artist whose interdisciplinary practice unites performance, installation, sound, writing, and social practice. A former medic trained in psychiatry, he explores systems of care, thresholds of experience, and the social architectures of our time. Zahedi develops collaborative projects with marginalized communities, questioning notions of neo-diaspora and the interweaving of personal and collective histories.
His recent works include Begin Again (Tate Modern, London, 2025), Air de repos (Breathwork) (CAPC, Bordeaux, 2024-2025), and Holding a Heart in Artifice (Nottingham Contemporary, 2024). He has been awarded the Stanley Picker Fellowship (2024), the Frieze Artist Award (2022), and the Paul Hamlyn Foundation Award (2021). Zahedi also teaches at the Royal College of Art (London) and collaborates with institutions such as the South London Gallery and Tate Britain.
Represented by Belmacz Gallery (London), Abbas Zahedi builds spaces for dialogue and reflection, where art becomes a tool for social transformation and collective resilience.
