Goen Choi
Born in 1985 in South Korea, Goen Choi lives and works in Seoul. A sculptor and installation artist, she transforms discarded domestic and industrial objects into works that reveal the invisible infrastructures of our urban lives. Her practice, often monumental, questions dynamics of power, control, and collective memory.
Choi won the Frieze Seoul Artist Award in 2024 for Calming Signal, an installation presented at COEX (Seoul). Her recent exhibitions include White Home Yard (SeMA, Seoul, 2019) and August is the Cruelest (Doosan Gallery, Seoul, 2025). She is represented by P21 Gallery (Seoul) and has been selected to represent Korea at the 2026 Venice Biennale.
Goen Choi offers a critical rereading of public and private spaces, blending minimalism and social engagement.
