Caroline Delieutraz
Caroline Delieutraz uses materials that abound in our information society, that is to say images and other data that circulate without feelings in the international flow of electronic networks. At the centre of her work, we find the origin of these data, the way they appear in public space — including the internet — their exploitation, transformations and successive reuses, their death and rebirth. Caroline Delieutraz daily gathers all kind of material available on the web and manipulates them, trying in her own way to occupy this fluctuating world in constant motion. She might be perpetuated what could be referred to as the deletion of the “original”, a relative concept in a world of copy-and-paste, but she does not negate neither the origins of these data nor the work done by the others. On the contrary, direct sources of images are an integral and significant part of her work. By extracting the information from the system in which she finds them, Caroline Delieutraz creates motion and reshaping which aims to question the authority of these images that seem now so familiar as that they come to us as certitudes. Her working approach consists in constantly jumping from the so-called “virtual” to the so-called “real” world. Caroline Delieutraz’s various kinds of works are exactly like the data: they take form in various kinds of digital and analogical vehicles or mysterious hybrid elements.
