Dominique Mathieu
Dominique Mathieu is a self-taught designer and artist.
Since 2007 his artistic work, that questions the consumer society and environmental issues, emphasizes and enriched his work as a designer by radicalizing its approach and his design. His interest in “savoir-faire” led him to work with many artisans and militate in favour of a return to localism, to self-production and production in line with environmental requirements.
Many exhibitions are devoted to Paris, Rome, Rennes, Milan, Bretigny-sur-Orge.
He was in residence from 2011 at the Center of Art Contemporary CAC of Brétigny sur Orge (director Pierre Bal Blanc). For this center he shows two exhibitions “Barricade” & “Bistanclaque” (2009) and “Sérendipité” with Vier5 (2011). Also, he realizes the furnitures and some scenographic works of the center. From 2013, he collaborates with the gallery Salle Principale in Paris and he presents a solo exhibition in September 2015.
In 2005, all of his work was awarded the “Grand Prize of the creation of the city of Paris” in the “senior designer”. It includes the national collection (FNAC) and the Centre Georges Pompidou. He is one of the few designers residents of the prestigious Villa Medici in Rome in 2000-2001.
