Jikken kōbō

On 24th November 1951, the Jikken Kobo presented its first collective work, a ballet entitled “The Joy of Life”, created to mark the first Pablo Picasso retrospective in Tokyo. Sixty years later, Bétonsalon presents research initiated by this transdisciplinary Japanese collective.

Ei Arakawa (né en 1977, Fukushima, Japon) représente une nouvelle génération d’artistes qui renouvellent les notions de collectif et d’interdisciplinarité dans le champ de l’art. Il compare ses actions à des « painting-actions » plutôt que des « action-paintings », rappelant ainsi l’esprit du mouvement Jikken kōbō.
