Laura Porter
Articulating different types of materials (synthetic, organic, edible — even crafty or manufactured elements are sometimes included), Laura Porter’s work considers modes of value production.
Laura’s compositions are often on the floor that she sees «as a screen» where she lays-out, and stacks elements, re-appropriating their symbols. This semantic organization translates into compositions as rigorous as they are strange — forming small technological and nutritional economies. Her sculptures and installations impose themselves as systems in the process of becoming animated, producing something unfathomable. Her most recent works, respond to each other through relay and repetition of certain fragments — constituting a rich and layered body of work.
