Pauline Sarrus
Pauline Sarrus, possesses a rich personal universe, supported by a demanding visual arts research and nourished by an authentic curisoity of myths and anthropology. This has lead her both to an exploration of extra-European cultures and to the foundation of our own culture. Her original work is part of an aesthetic approach driven by the concern for the search for origins, by the desire to flush out what is hidden and to go beyond the surface of things.
She bases her approach on materials, forms and archetypal images that are her own and aims to exploit their symbolic potential. Pauline Sarrus thus creates objects and images in the form of fetiches, totems or masks which she examines under the aegis of routine, the passage, the initiation and the identity. Her research, linked to the central theme of life and death, examines the question of meaning from a contemporary perspective of the “disenchantment” of our own world to the technical universe.
