Rebecca Digne
Rebecca Digne’s pieces are enigmatic evocations that capture the projection and the exhibition space as a « place of resistance to the time ». Her work consists of films, videos and photographs installations. Her images are used as territories where the notions of exile, identity, territory, gesture and ritual matters coexist. Her films, shot in Video, 16mm or Super 8, explore the issues she is concerned with and the fragile state of our human nature. Rebecca Digne use moving images as material of performance, painting, sculpture and cinema. Some of the titles of her pieces of work are action verbs (Rassembler, Fouiller, Creuser, Cueillir). She records archaic gestures. The usefulness and productiveness of the primary vital gestures take on a genuinely existential dimension. One can also sum up her practice in a single verb : to film. To film as a gesture, as an action and as a relationship to the world. The installation work is also an essential part of her practice so as to make the viewer actively experience the piece.
