Yosra Mojtahedi
Yosra Mojtahedi, born in Tehran in 1986, is an artist trained at Le Fresnoy. Her work blends art, science, and technology—particularly soft robotics—through an anthropological lens.
She explores humanity in all its dimensions (physical, social, religious, psychological) and its relationship with nature. Her installations, drawings, and photographs create organic, mystical landscapes steeped in a surreal atmosphere, where symbols (flowers, stones, organs) merge with twilight shadows.
Her hybrid sculptures, between the living and the non-living, challenge traditional boundaries. Coming from a country where the body is taboo, her work becomes sensory, tactile, and at times erotic.
Black, central to her practice, represents the absolute: both void and fullness. She blurs the lines between human and plant, inviting the viewer on a spiritual journey between shadow and light.
