Les foires de l’automne à Paris Comme chaque année, Paris devient, fin octobre, le centre d’attention de tous les amateurs d’art. Une effervescence qui ne cesse de croître depuis le renouveau de la Fiac. Face à cette multiplication de foires et salons, on observe une tendance à la spécialisation, qui fait de chaque événement une promesse cohérente en phase avec l'évolution des pratiques artistiques.

From October 22nd to 26th, Art Élysées — Art & Design will once again take place on the Champs-Élysées Avenue: the art fair gathers almost 70 galleries inside its 3 ephemeral pavilions with around 75 galleries, presenting a broad panorama of Modern Art, Contemporary Art and twentieth century design furniture.

During its eight previous editions, Art Élysées — Art & Design has actively contributed and been involved in the artistic effervescence of the capital. A regular event that takes place in October and is considered an international meeting point for gallery owners, collectors, specialists and amateurs of Modern, Contemporary Art and Design. Today Art Élysées has earned the status of a major and essential event on the art market calendar.

2015 — Year of Light

“Art Elysée Light Project” Exhibition

Each new edition, the organizers ensure that Art Élysées hosts exclusive exhibitions for visitors and serves the artistic and cultural dynamic of the capital. The fair is a meeting point in itself where visitors can discover artists, museums, foundations and cultural institutions…

This year, the organizers of Art Élysées for this new edition, in collaboration with the International Organization of the Year of Light, wish to present to the general public the use of light in art. The fair participates in these 2015 events under the name of the “Art Élysées Light Project”. This exhibition puts into perspective two artists: Éric Michel and Pierre Marie Lejeune, who both use light in their works. Two perspectives, two completely different ways to illustrate the use of light in art.

Multimedia and plastic artist, Éric Michel, uses “light materiality” as a medium, and Pierre Marie Lejeune, a sculptor, uses different types of material as sources of light in his work. For both artists, light plays a specific role in the analysis of their work.

“Art Elysée Light Project” — Visit

In addition to this exhibition, each gallery participating within Art Élysées is invited to work around the theme of light in order to create an atmosphere, a common thread, throughout the visit of the pavilions. Visitors will be invited to discover the multiple uses of light in art throughout different artistic movements, from the post-war years to the present.

Light Installation — Yves Charnay

Upon arrival in the main entrance, visitors will discover the light work created by the artist Yves Charnay, exhibited as part of the “Art Élysées — Light project” dedicated to the theme of light. He is well known for his numerous lighting installments abroad such as “Les couleurs de l’esprit” in the German parliament of Saxe-Anhalt Land.

Design Section

Pierre Guariche Seats, The Untraceable

From inside the Art Élysées pavilion dedicated to design, Art Élysées presents, in association, with Alexandre Guillemain’s gallery the exhibition “Pierre Guariche Seats, The Untraceable”. In finding untraceable pieces, Alexandre Guillemain returns to his roots as an antique dealer and presents an exceptional exhibition of rare seats designed by Pierre Guariche between 1651 and 1965.

Collected throughout a whole decade, some of the models presented are the only remaining pieces of the famous French designer. It is the case of the Calice Armchair edited by Meurop in 1958, the ash recliner made by M.A.I gallery in 1953, or the SG1 armchair in its collapsible version from 1959.

Presented in Paris for his fifth year attending the Art Élysées — Art & Design fair, the exhibition will carry on at the Alexandre Guillemain Gallery from November 5th till 20th, 2015.

Art Élysées counts over a dozen galleries dedicated to design in its special pavilion, with the following new members: 1950 Gallery from New York, A1043 with a selection of lighting from the 1960s to 1980s, as well as the Meubles et Lumières Gallery which is back with Robert Mathieu lighting. The Desprez-Bréhéret Gallery presents furniture and objects from the 1940’s to nowadays with a focus on natural materials (earth, fibers, wood) and unique atmospheres. The Luc Allemand & François Foucher Gallery exhibit a selection of pieces from Michel Boyer such as a pair of “Brasilia” lamps, Georges Jouve ceramics and iconic design pieces from the Post-War years such as the “Chistera” armchair by Joseph-André Motte. Opposite Gallery Avril is Mikael Najjar’s booth, presenting Scandinavian furniture. Last but not least Messine Gallery showcases contemporary design with the sculpture like furniture by Yves de la Tour d’Auvergne.

Art Section

Modern Art and Classical Contemporary Art are the two main movements represented in the fair with galleries such as: Galerie des Modernes, Fleury Gallery, Messine, Vintage, Traits Noirs and Hurtebize Gallery for 20th Century art.

Gallery AD, Galerie du Centre, Véronique Smagghe, Aborigène Gallery, Galerie Tristan and Protée amongst others present confirmed contemporary artists.

For this ninth edition of Art Élysées, galleries from different horizons have chosen to focus on Asian Art in particular South Korean Art such as the Kàlmàn Maklàry Fine Arts gallery, Baudoin Lebon and gallery 3032. Sabine Vazieux and Françoise Livinec’s galleries both present Chinese artists. Japanese artists are shown by Gallery Heis and Nichido Gallery.

Geometric Abstraction, a recurring art movement present on the fair for the past few years, with the following galleries Espace Meyer Zafra, Lélia Mordoch, Olivier Waltman, Gimpel et Müller. Aboriginal Art is also shown on Arts d’Australie- Stéphane Jacob’s booth and Aborigène Gallery which exhibits an exceptional piece by Paddy Bedford.

In 2015, Art Élysées is happy to welcome twenty new galleries, French and foreign, amongst them: MDZ Gallery, Miquel Alzueta Gallery, Alexandre Skinas Gallery, Gallery Calzada, Kàlmàn Maklàry Fine Arts, Gallery Francesco Vangelli de’Cresci, Gallery 3032.
