Art-o-rama
2024

Past: August 31 → September 1, 2024

The 2024 edition of Art-o-rama will bring together 42 galleries, 18 publishers and 1 guest independent space, showcasing some one hundred artists in addition to the guest artists and designers of the Prix Région Sud, with selections by Francesco Tenaglia for art and Ghassan Salameh for design.

The selection is as international as ever, with 15 countries represented. This year’s line-up puts the spotlight on the youngest artists, allowing very young galleries to showcase ambitious and radical curatorial projects, and to bring to the public art discoveries, some of which, as in previous editions, will be featured at major contemporary art events.

Art-o-rama is the key event for contemporary art kickoff season, making Marseille the place for art lovers and professionals. The fair will feature exhibitions spread over 4,000 sqm, in addition to those already on show produced by Triangle-Astérides and the École des Beaux-Arts de Marseille, putting the Friche la Belle de Mai at the heart of Marseille’s art scene.

In addition to the exhibition spaces, we will offer a range of free events.

Discussions on the place of women in the art world, both historically, with Anaïd Demir and the presentation of her book ‘Les Suffragettes de l’art’, and from a contemporary perspective with the anthology ‘Some of Us’, curated by Jérôme Cotinet-Alphaize and Marianne Derrien.

The program also includes a series of screenings and round-table discussions on the films of Jean-Luc Godard and his links with contemporary art.

The days of the show will be extended by the Parcours Privé reserved for our guests, collectors and professionals. With 2 days before and 2 days after the opening days, this is a full week of visits to our partners, public and private institutions, museums, foundations and collections, from the CRAC in Sète to the Citadelle in Villefranche-sur-Mer, from the Villa Carmignac in Porquerolles to the Fondation Luma in Arles, from the Frac Sud in Marseille to the Villa Noailles in Hyères.

It’s an exceptional journey, based on the richness and quality of summer exhibitions in the South of France by our 47 cultural partners, all part of the Plein Sud network.

Art-o-rama allows you to travel from Marseille to major contemporary art venues offering the most demanding programming.
