Corban Walker — Come What May
Past: May 31 → July 6, 2018
Fifty years ago, in Dublin, artist Corban Walker was born with achondroplasia, the major cause of dwarfism.
Over the last quarter century, he has built up an international reputation for his site-specific works that explore perceptions of scale and architectural constructs. Measuring 129cm in height, Corban creates site-specific sculptures and installations that are to be navigated and interacted with at his scale — the ‘rules’ laid out for the average individual don’t fit him. Comprised of stacked metal assemblages and wall-mounted sculptural drawings, this exhibition was specially conceived for CCI during his recent residency. It playfully highlights the vitality of form as well as the ways in which we are obliged to negotiate our physical surroundings.
