(mis)perception — Exhibition — Slash Paris

The exhibition gathers five artists who put the perception in the center of their activity. Each of them interprets this topic according to his or hers methods and procedures. As their research takes place within different mediums (painting, drawing, sculpture, photography) they develop an elaborate connection with abstraction either standing on the thin line between subject and form (Constance Nouvel, Hou Yong) or anchoring their work in historical reflection (Marie Lancelin, Camille Debray, Pan Xiaorong). The tension between the image and the means of its appearing or hiding is one of their favourite strategy. Finally, the five of them give a special attention to movement which they suggest either in the space defined by the artwork or in the exhibition space itself.
