Fabienne Verdier — Mute
Exhibition
Fabienne Verdier
Mute
Ends in 4 months: October 22, 2025 → February 16, 2026
“Mute” presents around forty paintings created by Fabienne Verdier over the past thirty years. Designed in dialogue with the Galerie des moulages, the exhibition is part of the modern and contemporary art cycle initiated by Matthieu Poirier. It is also included in the institutional program of Art Basel Paris and supported by Galerie Lelong & Co. and Waddington Custot.
A dialogue with the Galerie des moulages
In response to the monumental volumes of medieval and classical casts, Verdier’s works unfold through an abstract, fluid, and expressive gesture. The intensity of the line and the silent power of the architectures create an immersive space where past and present resonate with one another.
Silence, gesture, transformation
The title “Mute — Fabienne Verdier” refers to transformation, in the sense of the French verb muter—a transformation brought about through gesture. Verdier explores the expressive power of color and movement, offering a contemplative experience that extends the history of abstraction while asserting a singular voice.
In dialogue with Chromoscope
In echo to “Chromoscope,” which explores the history of Color Field painting and its major figures, “Mute — Fabienne Verdier” demonstrates how abstraction continues to reinvent itself today. Together, the two exhibitions invite visitors to journey between heritage and contemporary creation, revealing the enduring vitality of the relationship between painting and architecture.
