With this inaugural edition of FLASH, entitled Urban Metamorphosis, photography becomes a lens through which to observe the transformation of cities and territories, but above all to listen to the human stories that run through them. The three exhibitions presented explore both visible changes and more subtle, underlying shifts, examining what is transformed, what endures and what resists.

The exhibition Trajectoire(s) (Trajectory(ies)) opens this dialogue by bringing together twelve contemporary artists whose work focuses on peripheral territories, approached as spaces of tension, memory and possibility. Through practices spanning photography, film and installation, they reveal lives in motion, shaped by urban dynamics, migration, social struggles and the construction of identity. Here, individual journeys become collective narratives, and the intimate reveals its political dimension.

With Fragment d’une histoire collective (Fragment of a Collective History), the visual memory of Fontenay-sous-Bois unfolds before us. Developed in collaboration with the municipal archives, the exhibition spans more than a century of images, telling the story of

the town through its gatherings: celebrations, parades, demonstrations and shared moments. These photographs, sometimes seemingly ordinary, trace a common history and remind us that a city is also built through these moments of encounter.

Banlieue en fête ! (Suburbia Celebrates!) extends this reflection by giving local residents a direct voice. Developed through an open call for contributions, the exhibition brings together photographs drawn from family albums and personal collections, creating a living fresco of local social life. Celebration emerges as an essential space of connection, joy and creativity, where relationships and memories are woven together.

By bringing these three exhibitions into dialogue, FLASH #1 offers a multifaceted perspective on the city: a space in constant transformation, shaped as much by urban policies as by the people who inhabit it. Urban Metamorphosis invites visitors to consider the city as a living territory in perpetual reconfiguration, where every image contributes to the writing of a shared history.
