The Large Drawings
Past: April 2 → May 16, 2015
Günther Förg liked to produce series of works based on a formal idea. From 1988 to 1990, he created a group of large vertical works on paper, each around 260 × 150 cm. These works have a very subtle but very simple composition: two colour fields in confrontation. The finesse, the grace and the light touch of Günther Förg is here more visible than ever, capturing and holding in suspension this luminous and inspired “almost nothing”.
Günther Förg was born in 1952 in Füssen, Germany and died on 5 December 2013 in Colombier, Switzerland. Notable exhibitions include those at the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, the Reina Sofia Museum in Madrid, the Gemeentemuseum in La Hague and the Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris. His works appear in the collections of many museums including the Tate Modern in London, the Arken Museum of Modern Art in Denmark and the MOCA in Los Angeles.
