Horizontes — Peintures brésiliennes
Exhibition

Horizontes
Peintures brésiliennes
In 9 days: June 6 → July 25, 2025
On the occasion of the Brazil-France Season 2025, the Grand Palais shines a spotlight on contemporary Brazilian artists Agrade Camíz, Vinicius Gerheim, Antonio Obá, and Marina Perez Simão, presenting a vibrant pictorial dialogue on the balconies of the North Nave.
Conceived as a meeting of diverse artistic practices centered around painting, Horizontes explores the worlds of four artists, moving between collective memory and intimate resonances.
Agrade Camíz draws inspiration from the vernacular architecture of Rio de Janeiro’s suburbs and favelas, creating colorful universes that evoke domestic spaces, where themes of sexuality, female oppression, the body, and childhood are in constant dialogue.
Vinicius Gerheim’s practice is rooted in the desire to revive lost sensations. In his paintings, nature intertwines with human and animal figures, weaving narratives that explore the connection between sensuality and spirituality.
Antonio Obá investigates Brazil’s cultural construction and its contradictions. He conceives painting as an act of resistance, reflecting on the eroticization of the Black male body and the construction of his own identity through references to historical and religious icons.
Marina Perez Simão, for her part, offers abstract, organic worlds whose vibrant colors and reflections evoke natural, geological, and inner landscapes.
Event organized as part of the Brazil-France Season 2025.
