Jan Voss — Ratures et pas de côté
Exhibition
Jan Voss
Ratures et pas de côté
Past: November 30, 2017 → January 20, 2018
Here are the latest works from Jan Voss: paintings, papers and assemblages of wood and cardboard consisting of colours and shapes where the unexpected, whether from simple inspiration or a deliberate effort, is at the heart of each work of art.
With this title, crossings-out and sidesteps, the artist is not content to simply question the idea of an accident and its creative virtues in the sphere of art: instead he invites the viewer to liberate themselves, and rid themselves of any sense of guilt. The message is clear: we can make mistakes, we can leave the beaten path, it’s OK. And, putting his theory into practice, the artist fills the space with bold, fresh colours, improvised, disrupted scenes and incongruous objects, that are so many reasons to let go, and take advantage of what is on display. With its blend of lines, colours and shapes, this exhibition exudes enthusiasm and freedom.
