Joan Fontcuberta
Camouflages

Past: January 15 → March 16, 2014

As a young man, Catalan contemporary artist Joan Fontcuberta experienced Franco’s dictatorship, with its censorship and falsification of information. A computer science graduate, theorist, critic, historian and professor, in his work he challenges all forms of self-proclaimed truth. Using the possibilities offered by photographic imagery and its manipulative capabilities, he mischievously takes us into a form of reality that is both convincing and strange.

Featuring ten conceptually independent series, the show presents one strand of Joan Fontcuberta’s work, focusing on the idea of camouflage: that of the artist, that of photography, that of reality, and that of truth.
