This year, the Centre Pompidou’s Nouveau festival comes in a completely new, much longer format lasting three months, and now stands as an even higher point in the Centre Pompidou’s forward-looking, multidisci- plinary programme.

Three months for playing and thinking at the heart of the Centre Pompidou : from the Galerie Sud to Espace 315, and from the Forum to the theatres, the relationship between art and games is the new theme for this sixth edition. This relationship, which started at the end of the 19th century and flourished throughout the 20th, is more alive and productive today than ever, and constitutes an epochal fact. During the festival, the relationship between art and games is explored in different ways — often involving participation, and frequently performance. Visual artists, performers, dancers, theorists and film directors play on the same field in order to continue the dialogue.

Through a plethora of proposals, the Centre Pompidou’s Nouveau festival highlights the central place of games at the heart of contemporary creation, with participation as a central aspect to this edition. As spectators/players, visitors are invited to follow the rules of the game, reactivate artistic protocols and play the game of art.
