Pièce pour le Pavillon
Exhibition
Pièce pour le Pavillon
Past: January 20 → 21, 2012
The Pavillon Neuflize OBC, the creative laboratory of the Palais de Tokyo, has invited the director and set designer Philippe Quesne to invent a theatrical event in collaboration with ten artists and curators from all over the world. The Pavillon is a program for artistic research and experimentation, initiated by the artist Ange Leccia in 2001; every year he invites the residents to form a working group, challenge one another’s points of view, and collaborate with contributing artists. After their two months in residence, the participants in the 2011/2012 Pavillon Neuflize OBC program will present a collective creative work at the Ménagerie de Verre, then at Hebbel am Ufer — Berlin, and subsequently at the Palais de Tokyo for its reopening.
The piece is a collective composition, derived from an interplay of associations, transplants and parasitic borrowings which each person can originate or act out. The performance space will be open, conducive to close-up interventions trying out different demonstration methods: technical, physical or critical demonstrations will test their strength of conviction, their hypnotic power, or their capacity to entertain. The endeavor to collaborate is a challenge in itself. The preparatory conversations — the elucidations, intuitions and misunderstandings involved — promote exchanges between amateurs or professionals such as might be heard at private parties or in clubs.
