The gallery will be presenting from May 29th to July 24th an exhibition of the french artist Pierre Buraglio, entitled “J1 Vol 3 + …”.
“J1 Vol 3” is the new part of an illustrated diary that the artist began in 2004.
“What is it about ? Very young children between 1940 and 1947, their ration card. About myself, consequently…
These are drawings, photos, texts, with pigment prints and gouache highlights.
To be continued…”
Pierre Buraglio, 18th December 2005
“J1 Vol 3” (2010) is a portfolio made of 14 prints, highlighted with watercolor, colored pencils… These prints deal with the themes of the childhood and France during the war. Two off-prints and some original drawings will be exhibited, as well as the two previous part of the illustrated diary : “J1 Vol 1” (2004) and “J1 Vol 2” (2005).
In these three portfolios, Pierre Buraglio drawed, cut, sticked, put together images — his house, his father’s car, banks of the river Marne — and words — onomatopoeia, soldiers voices, children words…
The historian and University teacher Annette Becker, who is specialized in cultural representations of war, is writing a text to go with the exhibition.
The gallery edits prints of Pierre Buraglio since 1993 and will also display a selection of his editions (“D’après… Poussin”, “Autour de… Manet”) and of his drawings.
