Inception Gallery presents original works of great artists of Pop Art — Keith Haring, Robert Indiana, Richard Pettibone, Peter Phillips, Mel Ramos, James Rosenquist, Kenny Scharf, Tom Wesselmann and Andy Warhol.
This artistic movement born in Great Britain in the 1950s was very influential in the United States at the end of this decade. Mass production, advertising, comics and other factors contributed to the development of this opposition against elitist culture and industrialization by making artworks with any kind of form or representation.
Techniques and themes extracted from the mass culture marked a period of art history and have changed the way to appreciate it to develop a new concept still popular today: Pop Art and the cult to the object.
This artistic movement has also influenced the source of inspiration of artists from countries that have lived a considerable economic development during the last 15 years. This is the case of Brazil and China, where there is a significant public identified with the Pop Art of the twentieth century, which suggests the economic success of the sixties.
Contemporary artists known internationally like the French Richard Orlinski and the Porto Rican Melvin Martinez will present a selection of their works in the continuity of this artistic trend.
In the Pop Art, the color is intense and is always present; icons or objects of a certain period are still alive and the use of trademarks and collages.
The message of Pop Art is direct, questions mass consumption and as result, the art becomes an attractive product.
