Remy van Kesteren is one of today’s greatest talents on the harp. Having won many prestigious awards and competitions, he played in Carnegie Hall New York at the age of fifteen and made his debut in the main hall of the Royal Concertgebouw of Amsterdam the following year.

Only 22 years old, he is a highly sought-after soloist and chamber musician, as well as the founder and artistic director of the Dutch Harp Festival.

Hailed as Dutch Music Talent of the year in 2009 and winner of the third prize at the 17th edition of the most prestigious International Harp Contest in Israel, Remy van Kesteren (1989) is widely regarded as one of the greatest talents on harp of today.

At the age of ten, Van Kesteren was allowed into the Utrecht Conservatory, where he studied with Erika Waardenburg until he graduated in 2010 with the highest distinction. He continued his studies at the Amsterdam Conservatory and the Conservatoire National Superieure de Musique de Paris, where he currently studies with the famous harpist Isabelle Moretti.

His many national and international awards resulted in worldwide concerts: he performed from the USA to Africa, South-America to the entire European continent. Van Kesteren was a soloist with orchestras including the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra and the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, that accompanied him at the age of sixteen during his debut in the Concertgebouw of Amsterdam. A year before that, he played at the baptism of the Dutch princess Amalia and performed in the Carnegie Recital Hall in New York.

He started trio42 with two other young musicians: a combination of harp, violin and saxophone, which is unique in chamber music. They gave performances at festivals including the Zeister Musicdays and the International Chambermusic Festival of Janine Jansen.

Besides his activities as a musician, Remy van Kesteren is the founder and artistic director of the Dutch Harp Festival [harpfestival.nl], of which the first edition was held with great success in Utrecht, March 2010.
