Septembre

Past: September 8 → 13, 2012

“September is the month that I prefer. Paris still holds it’s beauty and warmth. We are happy to return here, to continue to enjoy the terraced cafés, to rediscover the city once again, to visit exhibitions ; a certain excitement around upcoming events is palpaple and a hint of autumn is already in the air.

September is a new beginning even as the year is coming to it’s end. September is filled with promise."

Baron Osuna

For the first exhibition of the new program, the Bertrand Baraudou Gallery offers the space to a broken arm.

As part of an invitation by the laboratory a broken arm, four artists will exchange visual hypotheses and theoretical propositions.

This research will be embodied in an exhibition which will take place over two periods at the Bertrand Baraudou Gallery ; a way of avoiding a stiffening of the process and of relaunching, up to and into the space in which it is displayed, the doubt which is at the root of all work.

September appears thus as an instant, the modelling, at a given moment, of these dialogues between the laboratory and Sylvain Bauman, Dominique Ghesquière, Philippe Grandrieux and Sarah Ritter.

“Bringing forward thought more so than a result. Bringing attention to the the aim of the artist as much as to the process of production. Through the deployment of critical and sensitive standards to the point of engaging in dialogues and plurilogues along a line which invents itself each day, A broken arm creates itself along the path of it’s own evolution. The questioning of certain behaviours, postures and normative values is not absent from the desire to reactivate, at it’s own discretion, temporalities of thought whose existence no longer seems possible within the ordinary framework of institutional spaces.

September, which is announced today inside the walls of the Baraudou Gallery forms the first sensitive echo of an essential approach to the collective : an ethic of sollicitude, an act of trust and pure recognition towards the singularity of these propositions and installations so rarely installed, each one gifted with a real power of strangeness. All of these interior summaries, these appearences, these visions, these incisions, these apostrophes where one’s vision is invited to seize them like a shovel at work, displaying a passionate desire to dig into representation to better open it outwards. All predisposed to this movement which makes of art the truest way of including the world.”
