Past: Monday, September 23, 2013 6:30 PM
On the occasion of the launch of Wilfrid Almendra’s first monograph round-table discussion between the artist, the book’s editor Zoë Gray and contributor Etienne Bernard. The discussion will be moderated by art critic Claire Moulène.
Wilfrid Almendra’s first monograph is released by Les Presses du Réel. This publication, edited by Zoë Gray and designed by Mathias Schweizer, presents a rich array of illustrations of Almendra’s work, together with photographs taken from his research archive.
Zoë Gray’s essay The Constant Gardener surveys Almendra’s practice since 2003, while Etienne Bernard’s essay Forms of Situations concentrates on his series of works titled Reconstruction for a Monument. The text by Sarah C. Bancroft, Villa America takes the reader on a roadtrip through the Amercian West — the landscape of her childhood — which she revisits through the materials and references of Almendra’s series Killed in Action (Case Study Houses).
