Adham Faramawy
Born in 1981 in Dubai, Adham Faramawy lives and works in London. An artist of Egyptian descent, he develops a multifaceted practice—video, performance, sculpture, painting, installation—that questions notions of materiality, touch, and toxic embodiment in relation to marginalized communities. His work explores narratives of migration, river flows, and landscapes, as well as mythologies and personal histories.
Faramawy has exhibited in institutions such as Tate Modern (London, 2024), Focal Point Gallery (Southend, 2024), and Serpentine Gallery (London). In 2025, his exhibition The earth laughs in flowers (Niru Ratnam, London) featured films, paintings, and sculptures inspired by family narratives and urban landscapes. He was also the recipient of the Frieze Artist Award in 2023.
Represented by Niru Ratnam Gallery (London), Adham Faramawy offers a rereading of natural and cultural narratives, blending poetry and political commitment.
