Boris Saccone
Using charcoal, pastels, acrylics, oils, and spray paint, Saccone creates unsettling yet captivating paintings that blur the boundary between reality and transcendence. He remains committed to figurative themes but combines them with an innovative and abstract touch, experimenting with flat and stylized surfaces, abstraction, and planar constructions that simultaneously deny us access while drawing us inward. A similar paradox applies to Saccone’s use of color: it is likely not in spite of but precisely because of the predominance of cool pastel tones—contrasting with almost cartoonish black contours—that his paintings invite us to linger and contemplate their enigmatic motifs and atmospheric visual spaces.
