Cao Fei — À propos — Slash Paris

The artist Cao Fei was born in 1978 in Canton. Between documentary and fiction, his work makes reality oscillate while never leaving its gravity. She thus uses images from popular aesthetics, surrealist references and borrowings from the documentary tradition to sharpen, in her films and installations, the tone of her commentary on the contemporary world and in particular the dynamic mutation of Chinese society. Regularly moving from the photographic medium to film, from documentary to performance, Cao Fei Elle is the author of several documentaries including San yuan li around the city of Canton, Hip Hop in 2003, CosPlayers in 2004, Haze and Fog in 2013 or Prison Architect in 2018 and films including La Town: The New Desert in 2014 or Nova in 2019.
