Born in 1975, American painter Fahamu Pecou is no stranger to the covers of magazines, including George, Art Review and Art Newspaper.

Strongly inspired by marketing methods, mainly those used to launch American rappers — 50 cent in particular — Fahamu Pecou created his own launch event with a promotion campaign entitled Fahamu Pecou is the Shit, fully incorporating his fine art work.

With his provocative attitude and an immediately identifiable universe, the artist avails himself of the tools of hip-hop culture to question black identity in modern-day America.

A multi-faceted artist highly active on the Internet, Fahamu Pecou uses videos, conferences and public performances to present his work. Fahamu Pecou’s works have been shown in many american museums, including the Austin Museum of Art (Texas) and the Museum of Contemporary African Diasporan Arts (New York).
