Gabriel Chaile
Using pre-Columbian motifs, the sculptor Gabriel Chaile deploys a bestiary exclusively made according traditional methods, using sun-dried bricks (adobe), eggs and wood. Portraiting his relatives or historical figures, the monumental sculptures appear as variations around a totemized humanity that is part of a deconstruction of colonial clichés and pays a strong tribute to the indigenous communities of South America, including his own, the Tucuman. Presented in particular at Art Basel 2018, he participates in the collective exhibition The Milk of Dreams at the Venice Biennale 2022.
