Ícaro Lira
Born in 1986 in Fortaleza, Brésil. Ícaro Lira is a visual artist and researcher whose work focuses on contested acts of Brazilian history through an approach that encompasses fiction, documentary, archival and archeological work. His exhibitions present structures that recall ‘museums’, reuniting forgotten fragments to produce an affective composition: objects both common and distinct, sets of actions, the whole scattered in texts, debates, walks etc.
Visual Artist, Editor and Researcher, he studied at the School of Visual Arts of Parque Lage (RJ) and Film and Video at Casa Amarela-UFC (CE), Film and Sound editing at Darcy Ribeiro Film Institute (RJ) and participated in the PIMASP. Independent Program of the São Paulo Art Museum (SP).
Icaro’s studies include Visual Arts at the School of Visual Arts at Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro, and film and sound editing at Darcy Ribeiro Film Institute, also in Rio de Janeiro. He recently participated in PIMASP — the Independent Program of the Art Museum of São Paulo (MASP). In 2013, Ícaro received the IPHAN Award for Art and Heritage, from the National Historical and Artistic Heritage Institute. He has participated in the 3rd Bienal da Bahia (2014), Rumos Itaú Cultural (2016), and the 20th Contemporary Art Festival Sesc_Videobrasil (2017).
