The Art Center presents an exhibition paying homage to the legendary dancer, choreographer and filmmaker Yvonne Rainer. The exhibition focuses on six films, which will be shown alongside a vast array of hitherto unseen archives. In addition, a number of contemporary artists will create works that echo Rainer’s preoccupations.

Le Tamis et le sable, La Méthode des lieux se structure autour de cette technique développée dans la Grèce antique permettant de mémoriser de longs discours. Élément-clé dans l’enseignement de la rhétorique et de la dialectique, elle consiste à projeter mentalement une architecture et à associer à chacune des pièces une image forte et symbolique.

The two exhibition spaces — the CPIF and the Parc Culturel de Rentilly — will be plunged into darkness in order to make the projections visible. Visitors will meander through the penumbral setting encountering animated images.
