Laura Porter Biography

Born in 1979 in New Orleans (Louisiana), Laura Porter studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d’Arts de Paris-Cergy, she lives and works in Paris.
She is currently a Fine Arts, PhD candidate at the Beaux Arts of Paris in the program SACRe-PSL. Laura’s work has been exposed in France and abroad notably at the Centre Régional d’Art Contemporain Languedoc-Roussillon, the Centre Georges Pompidou, Cité Internationale des Arts and Bandjoun Station (Cameroon). Among her group exhibitions between 2015 and 2017: ”New Babylon”, ”Hard Flowers” and ”Au-delà de l’image III” at the Escougnou-Cetraro gallery (Paris), ”Meet Me on the Beach”at La Couleuvre (St. Ouen), and ”Self Organization: DIY practices” curated by Antonio Ortega at the Miro Foundation in Barcelona (Spain).
After a residency at the Kyoto City University of Arts (Japan), her first solo show took place in September 2016 at the Escougnou-Cetraro gallery. In 2017, Laura Porter is selected to take part at the 67th edition of Jeune Création (exhibition in July 2017 at Thaddeus Ropac gallery, Paris-Pantin).
