Best off the wall on the gallery wall

This project comes from a desire to materialize the collaboration between Galerie Les Filles du Calvaire and the photography book-magazine “OFF the wall” over a summer exhibition. It will also be the opportunity to hold a group show on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the gallery and the last issues of the magazine.

Paola de Pietri — Questa Pianura — Deuxième volet
Past: October 10 → 24, 2015
Paola de Pietri is a major figure in Italian photography. Apart from her recent collaborations to Fotografia Europea de Reggio Emilia and to big exhibitions of Linea di Confine, she has been awarded the prestigious Albert Renger-Patzch Prize in 2009.

Paola de Pietri — Questa Pianura — Premier volet

Paola de Pietri is a major figure in Italian photography. In parallel with her last series which addresses the transformations in Istanbul suburbs or reveal the stigmata of the First World War on the Italian Alps’ landscapes, Paola de Pietri again focused on a landscape which is very familiar to her: the Pô Plain.

The CPIF presents works of two Italian artists : Paola De Pietri and Alessandra Spranzi. Alessandra Spranzi methodically selects photographs from manuals or classified ads magazines and completely transforms them. Paola De Pietri questions the way in which historical transformations give substance to urban or ‘natural’ landscapes.

Paysage-Document is the basis of the series of exhibition Cosa Mentale, Paysage(s) in the sense that the renewal of the notion of landscape was caught in the documentary cross-current who despised prefabricated elements be they pictorial, literary or historical. The photographers from this trend try to show the objective reality.

Can we imagine anything other than battle to represent war? Topographies of War does exactly that, by looking at war solely through its scenery. The photographs and videos in this exhibition have in common a clear and stated documentary purpose: a perspective of complete disembodiment.
